FAST-ACT February Highlights: Advancing Dry Decontamination Readiness Through Training and Global Engagement

February was a strong month for FAST-ACT as our team continued supporting responder preparedness through hands-on demonstrations and international engagement. From a focused training in Kentucky to representation at a major European CBRN event, these activities reinforced the growing role of dry decontamination in modern chemical response.

Kentucky Dry Decontamination Demonstration – Frankfort, Kentucky

On February 4, FAST-ACT conducted a dry decontamination training and demonstration in Frankfort, Kentucky with the state’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Branch. The 1.5-hour session combined classroom instruction with live, practical demonstrations to help attendees strengthen their understanding of dry decontamination in chemical and hazardous materials incidents.

The training focused on:

  • Core decontamination terminology used in CBRN and HAZMAT incidents

  • Field applications for dry decontamination in chemical scenarios

  • FAST-ACT technology, testing, and safety awareness

  • Proper use of FAST-ACT products in emergency situations

A key component of the day was the transition from presentation to live demonstration. Participants rotated through practical stations that included:

  • Sensitive equipment decontamination

  • Skin decontamination

  • Waterless personnel decontamination

  • Liquid spill containment

These hands-on segments allowed attendees to see how dry decontamination can be applied quickly when water-based methods are delayed, limited, or operationally challenging. The session emphasized real-world applicability and reinforced confidence in dry decontamination as part of a layered response strategy.

CBRN Summit Europe – Lyon, France

FAST-ACT also had a presence at CBRN Summit Europe in Lyon, France, represented by our official French distributor, SCOPEX. This event brought together CBRN and emergency response professionals from across the region to explore current technologies and response strategies.

At the summit, attendees were able to:

  • See FAST-ACT rapid-response chemical mitigation solutions and demonstrations

  • Speak with SCOPEX and FAST-ACT representatives about deployment and training considerations

  • Learn how FAST-ACT technology supports responder safety and faster on-scene mitigation

International engagement like this helps expand awareness of dry decontamination capabilities and supports cross-border knowledge sharing among response communities.

Enforce Tac – Nürnberg, Germany

FAST-ACT also exhibited at Enforce Tac in Nürnberg, Germany, alongside our valued distributor, fireKRAFT. The event brought together defense, CBRN, HazMat, law enforcement, healthcare, fire, and industrial professionals to explore the latest technologies supporting operational readiness and responder safety.

During the exhibition, attendees were able to:

  • See practical dry decontamination solutions designed for defense, CBRN, HazMat, fire, law enforcement, healthcare, and industrial teams.
  • Engage in hands-on discussions about deployment strategies, training considerations, and operational integration.
  • Connect with FAST-ACT and fireKRAFT representatives to discuss testing data, performance validation, and military applications.

Participating in Enforce Tac further strengthened FAST-ACT’s international engagement efforts and reinforced the role of dry decontamination solutions in supporting rapid chemical mitigation across diverse operational environments.

Valleywise Health Demonstration – Phoenix, Arizona

FAST-ACT hosted a hospital-based dry decontamination demonstration at Valleywise Health in Phoenix, Arizona, highlighting early-response application within healthcare environments. The session focused on how hospital teams can integrate dry decontamination into emergency department workflows when managing chemical exposure scenarios.

During the demonstration, hospital personnel were able to:

  • Review early-response dry decontamination procedures for patient arrival
  • Observe practical application techniques within a clinical setting
  • Discuss integration of FAST-ACT products into existing hospital SOPs
  • Explore strategies for improving responder and patient safety during initial intake

The event reinforced the importance of immediate, scalable decontamination measures in healthcare settings, particularly during the critical window before traditional water-based systems are fully operational.

The ATACC Group CBRN Course Participation

FAST-ACT also participated in The ATACC Group CBRN training course, where students were placed into realistic field scenarios designed to test decision-making, SOP execution, and operational response under pressure. FAST-ACT products were incorporated throughout the exercises, allowing participants to observe dry decontamination in live-action training environments.

Key highlights from the course included:

  • Neutralization versus absorption — Traditional sorbents were discussed in contrast to FAST-ACT’s ability to neutralize both liquids and vapors on contact
  • Speed of mitigation — Demonstrations showed that 1 kg of FAST-ACT reduced hydrogen sulfide concentrations to safe levels inside a shipping container in under 30 seconds
  • Validated protection — Performance data reviewed during training included protective ratios against VX nerve agent and demonstrated reduction of sulfur mustard vapor levels below AEGL-1 thresholds
  • Field-ready deployment — FAST-ACT Pressurized Cylinders, FAST-ACT Shaker Bottles, and FAST-ACT Decontamination Wipes were deployed in scenario-based settings, reinforcing ease of use and compatibility with standard PPE, including N95 masks

The course emphasized a critical operational principle: in CBRN incidents, time directly impacts outcome. Integrating rapid neutralization tools into field response protocols supports safer, more effective mitigation during the earliest and most consequential stages of an incident.

Continuing the Momentum

February’s activities reflect FAST-ACT’s ongoing commitment to preparedness, education, and practical capability building. Whether through state-level trainings or global CBRN events, the goal remains the same: helping responders act quickly, safely, and effectively during chemical incidents.
